Gastric By-Pass (Gastric By-Pass, Mini Gastric By-Pass)

The final and extremely difficult to reverse method of bariatric surgery. This is a procedure that includes features of restrictive and limiting absorption surgery.

Stomach Reduction Method: Gastric By-Pass

The operation involves cutting the stomach and dividing it into two separate parts. These are the gastric reservoir and the part excluded from the passage. The small intestine is connected to the smaller part, where a food loop is created. The second part of the stomach, together with the duodenum and a fragment of the jejunum, is connected to the further part of the small intestine.

Stomach reduction using the Mini Gastric By-Pass method

During the operation, a long, narrow reservoir with a capacity of about 50 ml is cut out of the stomach using mechanical sutures, which is to act as a new stomach. Then, a section of about 200 cm of the small intestine is measured out and connected to the newly created stomach. In this way, in addition to a clear reduction in food intake, the absorption of food itself is also limited.
